The Hired Red Pen focuses exclusively on editing books.
Editing is just like writing, except I don’t have to come up with the words. Okay, that’s not exactly true. Editing is a multifaceted process that is defined by the original writing, and it requires a keen eye and an agile mind. It also requires someone who likes to be mired in the details.
My job is to polish your work, plain and simple. My role is not to provide changes with a “my way or the highway” kind of attitude. Your work is your baby. You’ve entrusted me to take care of it and help it grow. I do this as gently as possible while keeping the end game, delivering a great product, in mind.
An important facet of editing is “voice.” Every writer has a unique voice that will shine through their copy. A good editor will recognize and maintain that voice. Since I’m also a ghostwriter, this process is easy for me. This might even mean relaxing grammar conventions to keep author authenticity.
Your Investment: It varies based on a number of factors such as word count, readability, organization, etc.
